Toledo GROWs Plant Distribution 2010
One of Toledo GROWs' main functions is to provide plants to community gardeners.
Our annual plant distribution is held on the Monday following the Toledo Botanical Garden's plant sale. This year's event was a success as we served gardens from deep in East Toledo to the South end and everywhere in between. Last years's plant distribution gave out 6,500 plants.
A typical gardener's take might include tomatoes, greens, onions, squash, peppers, parsley, echinacea and sunflowers.

Saturday Evening Post features Toledo Botanical Garden and Toledo GROWs
The Saturday Evening Post recently selected Toledo Botanical Gardens as one of the best botanical gardens in the midwest and gave a shout out to Toledo GROWs!
TBG Spring Plant Sale
Toledo Botanical Garden's annual festival of gardening, the Spring Plant Sale, is this Friday, May 7th through Sunday, May 9th with a special TBG member's-only preview on Thursday May 6th.
In addition to these top-ten plants the TBG horticulturalists have featured this year, along with hundreds of others, Toledo GROWs will be selling lots of vegetable seedlings.

Spring Perennial Exchange!
This year's spring perennial exchange is Saturday, May 1 at the Original Sub Shop.
All gardeners are invited to drop off plants to share and barter with starting at 8:30am in the parking lot.
A community garden workshop by the manager of Toledo GROWs will be held inside the Sub Shop @ 9:15.
The exchange runs from 10am - 11:30am.
Plant swaps like these are found throughout the world.
For the past six years this Original Sub Shop/Toledo GROWs co-sponsored event has brought local gardeners together to celebrate, share and learn about plants. People bring labeled plants and gardening paraphernalia and receive tickets they exchange for other items. Everyone, even new gardeners with nothing to share, will receive tickets.
At previous exchanges, young trees, shrubs, bulbs, grasses, ground covers, flowers of all kinds, vegetable starts, fencing, composted horse manure, books, garden art, and rocks have been available.
Stay tuned in the future for information on the fall plant exchange. . .
